GPA Calculator
Calculate a credit-weighted term GPA using dynamic course rows and a standard unweighted 4.0 scale. Each row accepts a course name, letter grade, and credits, with A+ and A both counting as 4.0.

About the GPA Calculator
Add prior GPA and prior credits to estimate cumulative GPA. Students can compare possible grades and course loads, but official transcripts follow each institution’s own rules for repeats, exclusions, and rounding.
How Is GPA Calculated?
Use the dimensions and definitions below. Calculations use unrounded intermediate values; displayed results are rounded.
Quality points = grade points × credits
Term GPA = sum of quality points ÷ term credits
Cumulative GPA = (term quality points + prior GPA × prior credits) ÷ (term credits + prior credits)
Example
An A in a 3-credit class and a B in a 3-credit class produce (12 + 9) ÷ 6 = 3.5 GPA.
How to Use the GPA Calculator
- Enter a name for each course.
- Select each letter grade.
- Enter credits and add or remove courses as needed.
- Optionally enter both prior GPA and prior credits.
- Read term and cumulative GPA, then confirm your school’s policy.
GPA Calculator Examples
Two equal-credit courses
An A in a 3-credit class and a B in a 3-credit class produce (12 + 9) ÷ 6 = 3.5 GPA.
Adding prior coursework
With prior GPA 3.0 over 12 credits, adding 21 quality points over 6 credits gives (36 + 21) ÷ 18 = 3.1667 cumulative GPA, rounded.
Measurement and input conventions
No. A+ and A both count as 4.0 in this calculator.
A− is 3.7; B+, B, B− are 3.3, 3.0, 2.7; C+, C, C− are 2.3, 2.0, 1.7; D+, D, D− are 1.3, 1.0, 0.7; F is 0.
Using the result responsibly
You can enter the courses your school counts, but the calculator does not automatically apply grade replacement policies.
Keep adequate precision when transferring results to another calculation. Rounding a displayed result too early can change a later answer.
